Different Types of Timber Flooring | Engineered, Laminate, Vinyl & Hybrid

Engineered Timber Flooring

An engineered timber flooring is made from softer timbers sandwiched together then laminated with a hardwood surface. The installation is easier and can be snapped together, without the need for nails. Therefore, it is a budget-friendly option compared to hardwood flooring costs.

Boasting superior durability, engineered timber flooring is perfect for high traffic areas, and because it comes prefinished, installation is more affordable than solid timber boards.

Laminate Flooring

Laminate flooring is made to look like real timber. They offer the same stain, grain, and sometimes texture as real timber. Laminate flooring costs are much more budget-friendly than a hardwood timber or engineered timber floor. It’s easy installation makes it ideal for a DIY project.

Vinyl Flooring

Vinyl flooring is a practical solution and provides an authentic timber look for a fraction of the price of timber flooring. They are pre-finished and as such, do not require any special treatment directly after installation only the usually routine sweeping and mopping.

When installing vinyl planks, you need to work with a flat sub-floor. Surfaces that aren’t completely level, or have small bumps can cause visible lumps to appear on the surface of your flooring.

Hybrid Flooring

Hybrid flooring combines the durability and strength of laminate and the soft and appealing look of vinyl flooring, making it suitable for wet and dry areas alike. Available in a range of stunning colours and true timber textures, this flooring is sure to impress. It is 100% waterproof, which means it’s the first rigid floating floor product that can be safely installed throughout Australian homes.
